2026 has been a roller coaster of crazy.

I've been over 1600m underground for work, I've had two jobs so far this year but this last one will stick. I'm personally responsible for 4x revenue because I upsell the shit out of every job I'm on for panel upgrades, new lighting, better switches and plugs, new EV chargers, etc. people are completely unprepared when a corporate level sales guy LARPing as a normal electrician walks in to fix some minor problems they are having.

I've moved out of the house but I'm still present in the kid's lives. After a month I'm pretty sure the full impact of exactly how much I did around the house and with the kids is realized. The yard work hasn't been done, everything is falling apart, and she's feeling the financial strain now that I know exactly how much she makes and she's paying half of all the shared expenses. I'm literally saving over 2k a month now and she's leaning on all her family to help with the kids but I'm sure that patience will run out eventually. She's calling me constantly for help with fixing things, which I feel obligated to do because it makes my kid's lives better when things are running properly. In the past week a section of fence collapsed, the water heater ruptured, and the furnace control board failed, all of which I fixed myself.

I'm busy so I've pretty much unplugged from current events. The next steps are to find a place and set up rooms for the kids so I can commence being a 50% dad instead of my usual 100%. I miss them dearly and they miss me. It sounds cheesy but the last month has been a journey of healing and decompression. I've slept better than I have in years and my cortisol levels have plummeted. I've relieved myself of a burden so crushing I had no idea how much it was affecting me. Living in a toxic relationship is damaging to the body, mind, and soul.
